I can finally speak
My voice is about 95% back and I'm glad. It was very difficult to communicate even the simplest of things when no one could hear what I was saying. Too bad I don't know how to sign.

Kristen and I saw "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (which will henceforth be referred to as GoF for the remainder of this post) this past Friday. I enjoyed it, though I think I enjoyed the previous entry in the series more (Prizoner of Azkaban). Still, I think I'll need to watch GoF a few more times before I can be sure (McKinney Movies 14 has a nice matinee deal which makes it pretty affordable for me to see movies on Sunday mornings). You know where I'll be this Sunday :) Jonny, care to join me? Anyone else? Don't all rush forward at once.

I may post a GoF review sometime this weekend if I get some spare time :)

Speechless
Well, I lost my voice sometime between Thursday and Friday and still don't have it back. It hurts when I speak unless I whisper, though that doesn't work well over the phone. :)

I hope I get my voice back soon!

Thrice concert last night
So much for sleeping in. I am so tired it's not even funny, but I can't sleep. The dog is making noise, Kristen's up and about, and I STILL feel sick (I keep waking up and coughing), so here I am.

For starters, Kristen's post about the concert was written at 2AM, and she must be on crack, because there were a few major mistakes in her post...but I still love you, baby!

The show was supposed to be in Fort Worth, but was moved to the Granada Theatre on Greenville at the last minute (which is, a few days ago). We arrived late, and Veda was on. They sounded good, but I didn't hear much of their set. The Granada Theatre is a pretty nice venue, in my opinion, and I prefer it over The Gypsy Tea room or Trees. You can stand just about anywhere in the venue and have a pretty good view of the stage, and the security staff weren't jerks like in some other venues.

Next up was The Bled. They were OK, but I wasn't all that impressed. The singer kind of got on my nerves....he seemed to be way into himself.

After them, Underoath took the stage. They REALLY got on my nerves. Their keyboard player kept on flipping out and convulsing all over the stage and shaking his hands as if he'd burned them on a stove. The lead singer looked anorexic....or should I say, lead screamer? I don't mind screaming in a band, I just didn't like this guy. Their drummer was good, I must say, as he actually could sing and play at the same time and had a good voice. Still, I couldn't get into them, and I pretty much spaced out for their set...I got bored.

Finally, Thrice came on and saved the night. They played flawlessly, and every song sounded perfect (Kristen disagrees, but what can I say?). I've seen them play live 3 times and have listened to all their records many times, especially their old ones, and they got every song right. Their timing was great, and their guitar work was meticulous and crisp.

They closed the set with "Deadbolt", which is one of my favorites, and then they finished their encore with "To Awake and Avenge The Dead", which is my favorite song by them live. They really rocked that one. Teppei's solo was perfect.

After the show we went to IHOP for something to eat.

I got home, threw myself onto the couch, and next thing I know, I'm waking up in our bedroom, coughing as usual. Thanks for putting me to bed, Kristen.

Well, honey, just so you know, I re-read my Thrice post and corrected my mistakes. I wrote it at 2:00 this morning, while you were sleeping on the couch, and was kind of out of it. Thrice was good, but not as good as last time.

Very cool design! Useful information. Go on!

"Thrice" on Thursday, "Goblet" on Friday?
Months ago Kristen and I made plans to see Thrice in concert this coming Thursday (the 17th). I asked for the following day off so that I could be out late without having to worry about being in the next day at work. Usually after concerts I'm pooped from standing all that time and driving long distances. I thought it'd be nice to sleep in and spend the day with Kristen. I also realized recently that the "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" film is being released on the 18th, which is a happy coincidence, since I happen to be a fan of the books and films, so I plan on catching the movie sometime on Friday before Sabbath. That worked out nicely!

Herb Montgomery visit this weekend and next
I wanted to post about an upcoming Herb Montgomery visit. From one of the members of my church (about Herb Montgomery), "He's a great speaker and has a passion about the truth about the character of God using THE BIBLE (he welcomes all sorts of questions at the end of each session). You can check out (or even download for free) some of his sermons online at the Light Bearers Resource Center under series "Light in the Darkness" & "Extravagant Love"...He's going to be at the Brazilian [Seventh-Day Adventist] Church in Irving starting Friday, November 11, at 7:45 PM."

Kristen and I are going to see Herb speak this weekend, and if anyone would like to join us, let us know! He'll be speaking Friday night and Sabbath morning and afternoon this weekend and next.

I'm excited about going!
