Kristen's Rebel
A few days ago I bought Kristen a Canon Digital Rebel (the original, not the XT). She's been wanting this camera for over a year and now she finally has it. I'm excited about it, and it's not even mine! I took this picture of it with her old camera (now mine), a Fujitsu S5100. Thanks, Kristen! Posted by Picasa

GDSX Christmas Party
Kristen and I attended the GDSX Christmas party at Gloria's Restaurant in Addison last Saturday night and had a great time eating, drinking mojitos (just me...Kristen drove us home), and dancing to live salsa music. I got a Simpsons Photomosaic in our white elephant gift exchange. All in all it was a great time...Kristen and I plan on returning to Gloria's for more dancing sometime soon.

I'm on a salsa dancing frenzy!

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Launch at Dallas
I attended the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Launch at the Dallas Convention Center yesterday. I should say, rather, that I showed up for the Launch, rather than attended, as I left as soon as I could get my hands on the free software (which was immediately after the keynote presentation). I was out by 11AM, which was good for me, as I'd already heard all MS the propaganda at VS Live in Orlando only a month and a half ago and wasn't looking forward to another 9 or 10 hours of it. At least at VS Live I learned a lot, but the Launch event seemed to be headed for a full day of systematic drilling of Microsoft doctrine. The guy at the registration booth didn't seem very happy at all that I was handing in my badge and evaluation form less than two hours into the event, but then again, dirty looks have never really bothered me.

Just give him a dirty look back...
