I'm going to be a daddy!
As Kristen posted in her blog yesterday (although that post has disappeared due to technical difficulties with her blog), we came back early from Denmark because while we were there we found out that Kristen is pregnant! We couldn't be happier. We are ever thankful to God for his wonderful blessings, this being the greatest of all. We are praying for Kristen's pregnancy to be a healthy one, and that our baby (or babies...don't know how many are in there yet) is/are born healthy and well.

W00t!

Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you guys and we will keep all 3 of you in our prayers!

I just googled vorbis -ogg to see what would come up and I found your blog. I find this odd because my blog is called "Blogg vorbis" ( http://www.treyhunner.com ). This is bizarre. Nice blog name?

Strøget
This part of Copenhagen is car-free and boasts a myriad of shops ranging from tiny diners and gaudy souvenir shops to upscale offerings from Gucci, Benetton, and Louis Vuitton. The picture you see was taken at the entrance of this street. It's one of my favorite places to go in Copenhagen.

CPH 06: Days 2 and 3
Last night we went to a Turkish restaurant called Ankara here in Copenhagen. I had lamb chops, vegetable soup, and a banana split. It was all very tasty! A belly dancer danced for all the diners at some point during our meal...very nice! We each got a 3 course meal for 89DKK, which is a great deal in such an expensive city (though drinks will push the tab over 100DKK per person).

Today we woke up early and enjoyed the hotel breakfast...the spread was quite lavish for a hotel...not your typical hard bagel and coffee. We partook of fresh yogurt and fruit, juice, eggs, fresh cold cuts and bread loaves (you slice your own pieces straight from the loaf), soft and hard cheeses (again, freshly sliced), different kinds of butter and vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.). There were other things, but we didn't eat them (like bacon, beans, liver patte', and cereal). The bread, meat, cheeses, and vegetables were primarily used to create traditional open faced sandwiches called smørrebrød. We went out for a brisk walk through Vesterbrogade and about a third of the Strøget before realizing that much of the city's vendors were closed for the day (Sunday). Disappointed, we headed back to our hotel where we whiled the day away messing with digital pictures and napping. One of my client contacts will be arriving in Copenhagen this evening and wants to go out for dinner and sightseeing, so I'll let you know what we see with him.

I put some pictures up on Yahoo! for you to see, but I have to warn you...I uploaded them at a very low quality, and Yahoo! doesn't even let you see them at that quality, so they look even worse. Still, you can get a feel for what we've seen and done so far here. We'll have nicer pictures up later on, I'm sure.

CPH 06: Day 2
We fell asleep shortly after 2AM and woke up at about 11:15AM. We totally missed the hotel breakfast, so now we have to go out and find food. I'm disappointed we slept so late, so tomorrow we're doing things my way (I wanted to set an alarm, Kristen did not...Kristen won). We have pictures already, but they are not quite ready for posting yet...we'll have some up soon, though. Promise!

Goddag!
That's "Hello" in Danish...we are in Copenhagen, Denmark after a grueling day of traveling. Thank God we made it safely! Both flights were quite turbulent. The first was on an Embraer 170, which seats 70, and I could feel every little gust of wind as it knocked the plane around on ascent and descent. I was very scared, but I'm a chicken when it comes to flying anyway. Nonetheless, by God's grace we arrived at Dulles airport in Washington, D.C. safely. I must say, Dulles is the most poorly configured airport I've ever been in. I've only been in about 9 or 10 airports, but Dulles is the clear leader in my Crappiest Airport rankings. I'll have to write more on why I feel this way some other time. Anyway, due to Dulles' most righteous suckness, we barely made it to our gate in time to board the Scandinavian Airlines flight to CPH. Our plane for this flight was an Airbus 330-200 (I think it seats 250 some-odd passengers), which was OK. Turbulence on ascent and descent wasn't too bad, but right over the mid-atlantic (about 4 hours into our flight) we hit some truly horrible turbulence which lasted for a good while (seemed like an hour, probably much less than that, though). That subsided, and then we encountered equally horrible turbulence about 100 miles away from Scotland. Add in the constantly screaming/crying/whining toddler 2 rows ahead and you can probably imagine why I got maybe a total of 1 hour of sleep during the entire flight. I'm pooped! But I drank a lot of coffee in order to stay awake after our flight so that I could be alert for our baggage retrieval, taxi ride, and hotel check-in. Luckily, our room was available right away so we didn't have to wait until 2PM to check-in. Kristen is sleeping, but I am still feeling the effects of the coffee, although I can tell I'm winding down already.

Our cab ride over was uneventful, though I got the distinct feeling that our cabbie was taking the long way to our hotel and running up the fare in the process. I didn't tip him, partly due to my suspicion that he was ripping me off, and partly due to the fact that the smallest Danish denomination I had was a 50 Kroner bill, which amounts to approximately 8 US dollars. I'm not about to tip the cabbie 8 dollars, especially not if I think he's ripping me off! I could tell he wasn't happy about not being tipped, and that probably didn't do much for his impression of Americans, but c'est la vie. ;)

Somewhere in the process of retrieving our baggage I got a small cut on my left index finger, which is really no big deal. However, upon signing a paper to check-in to the hotel, I realized I'd smudged the paper with my blood in several spots. I'm sure the receptionist was not pleased about that. Still, one bright spot is that neither the taxi driver nor the hotel receptionist noticed the spelling mistake that American Express so kindly provided on my company credit card (apparently, Amex thinks I am Mr. Pachico).

OK, more later. I'm feeling tired now.
